Dr. Neubauer · Punch · Long pips

Punch

An attacking long pips on a firmer 40° sponge: high reversal with unusually good hitting ability.

Punch is the most offensive long pips in the range. The firmer sponge lets the player drive, punch and block actively without losing the reversal that defines the category, so the rubber fits close-table disruptive attackers rather than classical defenders. Passive contact still returns the opponent's spin; the difference is how much the rubber gives back when the player commits to a stroke.

Spin reversal is the returned rotation of the incoming ball. It is stored separately from the TTDNA spin rating, which measures the rubber's own spin production.

Strengths

  • Very high spin reversal on passive contacts
  • Strongly disruptive ball quality

Weaknesses

  • Own spin production is minimal by design

Best for

  • Players who disrupt rather than out-spin opponents
  • Attacking long pips players
  • Blocking players
  • Disruptive players

Not ideal for

  • Players who want to loop with this side of the blade
